After a successful Dragon’s Den hosted on September 28th at Space 42 a mobile application pitched that evening was brought to life. The event brought out over 70 patrons come to watch 10 entrepreneurs from all over the United States pitch to a crowd of investors, artists, developers, business executives and future entrepreneurs.

The mobile application entitled “GigDeets” created by local innovator Dolf James was pushed through the production phase over the weekend with the collaborative Ijhana; the global technology firm housed inside Space 42.¬† The idea for the application was born from his desire to create a way for artists & freelancers to track their workflow in a simple and effective way. It allows them to keep track of multiple projects while invoicing clients and buyers quickly and effectively right from their smartphone.

To bring the idea to life three extremely talented local application developers Johnathan Frias, Chris Whittemore  and Josh Harris agreed to fast track the development over a 48 hour intensive weekend that we are calling #codeathon. Beginning on Friday Oct 13th thru Oct 15th the 3 developers with the guidance of Dolf James and Ijhana team they brought the idea to life right here inside Space 42.

This event was the first of its kind for Space 42 and we hope to use this model we’ve named RAD (rapid application development) to create a fast track format for the development of applications and projects bringing them from idea to reality quickly. Perfecting this format will enhance Space 42’s ability to use events like Dragon’s Den to offer this unique process to the innovators and creators right here in Northeast Florida region and beyond.
